Materials and Properties
This reference guide explains the different materials available in WrenchML, their properties, and how they affect defect simulation and image generation.
Material Selection Overview
Choosing the appropriate material in WrenchML is essential for creating realistic synthetic datasets. The selected material affects:
- Surface appearance - How light reflects off the part surface
- Defect visualization - How defects appear when applied to the model
- Overall realism - How closely the rendered images match real-world parts
Available Materials
WrenchML supports the following materials:
Metals
Aluminum 6061-T6
- Appearance: Silver-gray with slight satin finish
- Properties: Medium reflectivity, uniform surface
- Common Uses: Structural components, enclosures, heat sinks
- Typical Defects: Scratches, dents, machining marks
- Best For: General purpose aluminum parts in consumer and industrial products
Aluminum 7075-T6
- Appearance: Darker gray than 6061, slightly rougher texture
- Properties: Medium-low reflectivity, more matte finish
